Lead by lead counsel Latham & Watkins, Frankfurt, Carsted Rosenberg is pleased to announce its role as Danish local counsel, representing Deutsche Bank, ING Bank, and Landesbank Baden-Württemberg, in connection with the record EUR 1.4 billion green loan facilities agreement for NeXtWind Group. The transaction includes the possibility of raising a further EUR 1.3 billion in the next five years if the Berlin-based firm meets its capacity targets. This transaction represents a significant step in advancing the expansion and modernisation of Germany's wind energy infrastructure.

The financing, acknowledged as one of Germany's largest wind energy financings to date, was organised by a banking syndicate comprising Deutsche Bank, ING Bank, and LBBW, who served as underwriters, mandated lead arrangers, and bookrunners. Latham & Watkins, Frankfurt, acted as lead counsel for the overall transaction to the banking syndicate. Carsted Rosenberg provided support as Danish local counsel to Latham & Watkins throughout the process. Separately, Gleiss Lutz advised the NeXtWind Group as lead counsel on this repowering financing, tohether with Travers Smith, Watson Farley & Williams and Gorrissen Federspiel.

NeXtWind, a leading European renewable energy provider, specialises in the acquisition and optimisation of existing wind farms through "repowering", a process involving the replacement of older turbines with state-of-the-art technology. This landmark green energy financing will enable NeXtWind to modernise over half of its 37 wind farms and is projected to quadruple its generation capacity to an impressive 3 GW by 2028. This will contribute substantially to Germany's energy transition. The financing structure integrates existing and future projects into a single platform, thereby enhancing efficiency and accelerating growth towards a sustainable green energy infrastructure across Europe.

Carsted Rosenberg's team, led jointly by Michael Carsted Rosenberg and Andreas Tamasauskas, delivered Danish legal advice, collaborating seamlessly with the outstanding team at Latham & Watkins to close the transaction successfully.

"We are immensely proud to have worked with Latham & Watkins representing Deutsche Bank, ING Bank, and LBBW on this landmark green financing for NeXtWind. Their commitment to advancing sustainable energy infrastructure is impressive," stated Michael Rosenberg. "Our involvement underscores Carsted Rosenberg's established expertise as Danish local counsel in expediting major cross-border finance transactions within the German financial sector."
